Advanced Endoscopy Center
Advanced Endoscopic Procedures
- Gastric Balloon and Gastric Botox: Endoscopic treatment methods for obesity.
- POLYPECTOMY: Removal of polyps in the stomach, small intestine, and colon.
- EMR (Endoscopic Mucosal Resection): Non-surgical removal of polyps less than 2cm in diameter.
- ESD (Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection): Non-surgical removal of early-stage tumors (esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine tumors) generally larger than 2 cm and confined to the submucosa layer.
- POEM (Peroral Endoscopic Myotomy): Effective treatment for achalasia, characterized by difficulty swallowing. Variants include Z-POEM for Zenker's diverticulum and G-POEM for the stomach.
EUS (Endoscopic Ultrasonography)
- A close examination of internal organs using an endoscope with ultrasound functionality.
- Diagnosis and biopsy for pancreatic cancer and cysts.
- Celiac neurolysis for pancreatic cancer pain.
- Evaluation of esophageal cancer, mediastinal lymph nodes, and sub-epithelial lesions.
- Diagnosis and biopsy for rectal cancers.
- Treatment of bile duct and pancreatic duct stenosis (hepatico-gastrostomy, choledocho-duodenostomy).
- Cysto-gastrostomy: Draining cysts and abscesses into the stomach.
- Gastro-jejunostomy: Stent placement for gastric outflow tract stenosis.
- Staging of tumors and therapeutic interventions.
ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio Pancreotography)
ERCP is an advanced endoscopic technique performed using a specialized endoscope (duodenoscope) with a camera system. It involves accessing the bile and pancreatic ducts through the papilla to:
- Remove stones from the bile ducts.
- Treat biliary tract and pancreatic tumors.
Other Procedures
- Spark Plug and Balloon Dilatations: Treatment for strictures in the digestive system caused by tumors, caustic substance damage, Plummer-Vinson syndrome, gastric outlet obstructions, and achalasia.
- Stenting in Malignancy: Placement of stents for gastrointestinal system malignancies (esophagus, stomach, colon, intestine, pancreas, biliary tract).
- Treatment of Gastrointestinal Bleeding: Includes intervention for ulcers, cancers, erosions, variceal bleeding, and band ligation.
- Manometry Procedures: Diagnostic application for functional diseases of the esophagus and intestines.
What is EUS (Endoscopic Ultrasonography)?
Endoscopic ultrasound is a highly developed imaging technique that detects the nature and stage of masses and lesions hidden behind the walls of organs such as the stomach, intestines, esophagus, gallbladder, and pancreas. It is used for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes by combining endoscopy with ultrasound capabilities.
Unlike normal ultrasound, which is applied through the skin, endoscopic ultrasound reaches the target area directly, providing detailed images. It is particularly valuable for identifying tumors or masses in the digestive tract and gathering detailed information about their nature and appropriate treatments. This method simplifies procedures requiring biopsies, reduces surgical burden, and increases patient comfort.
ERCP Application (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio Pancreotography)
ERCP is performed using a specialized duodenoscope to access the bile and pancreatic ducts through the papilla. This technique is utilized for:
- Removing stones from the bile ducts.
- Treating biliary tract and pancreatic tumors.
The procedure uses fine-tipped catheters to enter these ducts, allowing for precise diagnosis and effective treatment.
